PRAYER OF THE MONTH

Most patient God, we confess that we like to use the Scriptures to our own ends, interpreting them either literally or liberally in order to reconfirm our prejudices rather than to understand your word and will. Forgive us we pray, and teach us to read your word with open minds and hearts, that we may discover there not only you but also ourselves. In Jesus’ name we pray,   Amen

JANUARY 2010

A new year, a new decade has arrived! Happy New Year to everyone. Last year was a difficult one for many people with the poor economy and it does not look like it is over yet. We pray for all who have faced loss or cutbacks in employment.

Our weather hasn’t been too bad with winter season with mostly fairly mild temperatures and only minor snow amounts. However, we are not fooled. We do live in the foothills of the Adirondacks and know that snow and cold are part of nature for this area. Get out the skis and snowshoes and sleds and have some fun.

Weekly Bible Study has resumed. Why not join us?

THIS AND THAT

While we as a church do not go into hibernation in the winter months, our extra circular activities are somewhat curtailed. As usual, December was a busy, busy month including our annual caroling, fellowship dinner, and special services.

Pastor Kathy has a special touch with decorations for alter, etc. These items give added meaning to her excellent sermons. We welcome all to come as you are. Our Sunday worship service is at 9 a.m. every week, early enough for outdoor enthusiasts to bundle up and stop by before heading for snow mobile trails or snowshoeing for whatever might suit your interests.

Always remember:

The task ahead of us is never

as great as

the Power behind us.

The church on the hill
stands tall and proud
to welcome your presence
a few, or a crowd.

Happy are those
who pass through the door
to kneel, to pray,
to sing, and more.

So come and join us
Please hasten, don't stall.
Enjoy this great day
that the Lord gave us all.
