PRAYER OF THE MONTH

Dear Father, we are thankful for being a part of the worldwide church and for those who witness to the risen Lord enabling your Word to reach to the ends of the earth. We know there are still persons whose salvation depend on our witness. Revive us with zeal to be living witnesses of our risen Lord that we may lead many into your kingdom. In our Savior’s name we pray, Amen.

JULY 2008

Here we are at July, the halfway mark on the calendar and ready for a wonderful summer. If spring flowers are any indication, the summer should be a colorful one. It is just wonderful to see the bouquets of live flowers with which our members decorate the church starting about May. What a great variety of colors and textures our Lord has provided for our enjoyment.

This week as I went to hang some clothes on the line to dry I noted several “fairy dance platforms” in the grass (spider/cob webs coated with dew). I attempted to photograph them. My efforts aren’t too impressive but I will give you just a sample here. Just think, without the dew, one would never notice these little treasures! Enjoy them as you see them for as soon as the dew dries in the sun they are gone. Gone? Or maybe just invisible without a magnifying glass. Guess I’ll have to watch for more and study this out with my magnifier.

THIS AND THAT

Our annual turkey dinner was again a big success, raising much needed funds that enable us to keep our doors open. Higher prices had us a little worried: would the public be able to afford to attend a dinner; would they travel from Gloversville, Johnstown, Northville and other places considering gas prices? The Lord led many to our church hall for the dinner and we are thankful. Thankful, too, to the many workers who joined together to make it all possible.

Currently our Church is collecting funds for special donation to help with disasters in Myanmar and China through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), All funds donated to UMCOR go directly to relief efforts as administration costs are picked up with other church funds. If you are interested in contributing to this worthy effort, we welcome your help.

July will see our annual Vacation Bible School in session for one week. Our auction will be held in August this year. See Activities page for details on both of these activities.

Regular morning worship services are held every Sunday at 9 a.m. and we welcome all. Won’t you join us next Sunday?
